Kendall Howard announces relocation of their World Headquarters to Chisago City

Chisago City, MN: Kendall Howard LLC will officially break ground on their World Headquarters...
relocation project on October 25th 2007 in Chisago City, making it one of the cities largest and newest employers.
“We are very excited to be part of Chisago City’s growing industrial area. The city staff has done a phenomenal job of facilitating our move at lightning speed. One of the things that is most exciting to us is that we will be able to take advantage of the large labor pool that commutes into the Twin Cities every day. The area should provide us with a wealth of potential employees”, said Randy Herreid, Kendall Howard’s President and CEO.
The company’s Chisago City World Headquarters will be built in two phases consisting of an initial building containing 1.1 million cubic feet of warehouse and manufacturing space with a footprint 50,000 square feet. Phase two, set to begin on or around 2011, will be a 40,000 foot addition for a total of 90,000 square feet.
This new facility will not only serve as its International Headquarters but will also house manufacturing and warehousing for most of its North American Operations.
“We have been doubling our physical space about every 12 to 16 months for the last three years which has made it difficult to dedicate space to new technologies. Our new facility will house the latest’s machinery the industry has to offer and give us the ability to create a state of the art research and development center. The R&D Lab will attract customers from all over the world. Our designers will work directly with the customer on site to design, prototype, and test new products. In many cases customers will be able to walk out the door with their new products in hand the same day they were designed.” Herreid said.
Background:
Kendall Howard was actively looking for an expansion site in 2007 when John Pechman, Chisago City’s City Administrator contacted the company and began immediate negotiations settling on a business subsidy package that included, among other considerations, JobZ status; Minnesota Governor Pawlenty’s key initiative to stimulate economic development activity in Greater Minnesota by providing local and state tax exemptions to new and expanding businesses.
